Vácuo

A portable light made with flexible solar panels and a vacuum sealing process

light design prototype

Design: Marina Kosovski

The main concept behind this lamp is the use of vacuum-sealing technology to make it waterproof. By combining this simple process with flexible electronic components — flexible solar panels, LEDs, flexible circuitry, and rechargeable batteries — the result is a lightweight, portable, water-resistant lamp.

Once charged through solar energy, Vácuo can be used in swimming pools, bathtubs, hung inside closets, or mounted on walls. The result is a flat and transparent object composed only of the essential elements required for its operation, proposing not only energy efficiency but also economy in production processes and aesthetics.

Vácuo was presented at the Designboom Exhibition at the Gwangju Design Biennale (Korea) and at Elisava’s 100% Design London
